Wonderful New Pub/Restaurant on UWS
Just had to let everyone know about a great place I had dinner at this week. St. James Gate on Amsterdam and 81st. It is new, where Louie's used to be. The food is GREAT. We had quesadillas and smoked salmon platter and calamari for apps. They were all great. The smoked salmon especially. For entrees we had Fish and Chips, Sliders, and Shepherd's Pie. All really good. Great drinks and a great bar that was pretty packed, but no annoying on a tuesday evening. Service was attentive but not too much. Highly recommended!! Had been to their old place once in midtown east. This place blows the top off. Go there!!
re: squid kun
Oh I'm very happy to hear that they opened and are doing well.
Yes, they were forced to leave their 2nd avenue location by construction. Remember the crane collapse? The construction of that building is what forced them out of their 2nd ave spot. Though the crane had nothing to do with it, they were gone before the accident.
Anyway, yes. It was a nice bar and they're nice people. I hope they do well because they had some bad luck in MidEast. Good luck to Paul!
