Great T.O. delivery King/Strachan

I have moved to a new hood and need tips! I am thoroughly unimpressed with the state of delivery choices in Toronto...who wants to change my opinon?

  1. Not attempting to change your mind: I think Toronto deliveries suck.
One of the better ones that delivers to your area is Curryer. The food always comes nicely boxed in a brown paper tote.
The food is just okay, but they do great delivery.

    1. I've been living in the area for about 2 years now and here's where I usually go:
Sushi - Sushi 930 (930 King St W). They don't do delivery, but they are about a 5 min. walk East from King & Strachan. Very fresh sushi and a phenomenal chef.
Asian Noodle - Sweet Lulu (859 Queen St W). They do delivery (by bike only, so it a small delivery area; They do deliver to the King & Strachan area). Build your own asian noodle dish. Made fresh when you order.
Pizza - Terroni (720 Queen St W). I'm not sure if they do delivery, but the pizza's are pretty good (obviously open to interpretation).
Pasta - One of a Kind Pasta (746 Queen St W) They do deliver and they have a very extensive pasta & grill menu to select from.

Uhm, I can't really think of any others that are in the immediate vicinity. My wife and I have really fallen for the Brazen Head Pub (165 East Liberty St - The food is pretty good and they have a respectable draft selection.

I'll have to check out Sushi 930 tonight methinks!
I've had all of the others.
I quite enjoy the drafts at the Brazen Head as well, the crowd is a little different than what i'm used to but the beer is cold!

Second Sushi930. A fantastic place - the best 'value' sushi in Toronto. I will sometimes go there more than once a week and have to stop myself from OD'ing on yummy fish. Do call ahead though as they're a one-man shop and can be very slow to wait.

has anyone noticed an improvement in the rice in the past couple of months? dying for good affordable sushi and starting to feel like it's impossible. i know the sashimi is good... but sometimes you just want a little rice.

I Have to agree, I loved sushi 930 except for the rice, im also waiting to find out if they have changed it or not.

Late response but I've eaten from them consistently being less than 2 minutes away and find the quality of the rice is the same. I enjoy Japanese food but don't seem to have the palette to be displeased with the rice (which works for me!)

If you're ordering the combo or mixed sashimi sets you may also want to tell the chef that you're open to trying anything. On one order he was talking about how he had to use more common fish as some people weren't comfortable with eating the less-available seafood in Toronto. My order did indeed have some great fish that's not always around but I can't remember exactly what...

          2. I order from Sushi Bon on college, they deliver and are usually fresh great sushi. Bamboo Buddha on king west delivers canadian style chinese food and is always a reliable choice. Please report back on the places youve tried as Im looking for more places in the area myself.

I would have to second Bamboo Buddha. Mrs. U and I order from there whenever we need a North American Chinese food fix.

            2. If you like Thai food, Bangkok Paradise (506 Queen Street West @ 416-504-3210) delivers, and in my experience the food is always hot and delicious. They make five versions of Pad Thai, and three of them are NOT tomato-based so it's similar to what you'd find in Thailand (allegedly). Some of my favourites are the Vegetarian appetizer platter, Basil tofu with eggplant, Combination Pad Thai (without chicken), Thai red curry shrimp and Thai green curry fish. They are renowned for their Mango with sticky rice for dessert, but it doesn't travel well. Try it if you go in person - it's truly amazing.
