Hi, I am looking to purchase some citric acid powder.

I have a recipe that calls for it. While I could use lemons instead, due to the amount called for, it would be much easier to use citric acid powder.

Any idea where I can purchase Citric Acid powder in Manhattan (or Brooklyn)?

Thanks alot.

I've heard it called "sour salt" too; have you tried calling around kosher supermarkets? Have you tried calling places like GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe?

I think this is what you're looking for:

http://www.willpowder.net/sodiumCitrate.html

If so, I know Will Goldfarb is Manhattan-based. You used to be able to buy all these products at the late Room4Dessert. Perhaps you could use the contact info on the web site to find out if there's a way to buy his produts retail.

Citric acid powder is used in mediterranean cuisine and probably in indian cuisine too, so it should be available in these ethnic grocery stores. There are some indian grocery stores on 28th and lex area, you can ahead and ask if they carry. Kalustyan is in the same neighbourhood and might carry it.
There are middle eastern grocery store on atlantic ave on brooklyn somewhere. I don't know exactly where though.

You can almost always find citric acid powder in Indian groceries. The 20s and Lex should be central in your search and certainly Kalustyan's is a sure-fire bet.
