Kitchenaid Mixer repair?

I've got a dead KA 6 qt mixer; any recommendations on where to take it for repairs? North of Boston preferred.

It has been a reliable workhorse for years until I made a batch of marshmallows. It worked fine a few times making buttercream after the marshmallows, but now doesn't turn on or even make a squeek.

My KitchenAid blender motor died last year and I went on the KA site to find a local KA certified repair shop. You are in luck because the local one is actually up in Salem!

    Here is the info:

    Fixmaster Inc.
    190 North Street
    Salem, MA 1970
    Phone: 978-745-0004
    Fax: 978-745-0004

I think it took a week or two for him to get the part but it works like a charm now!

Thanks for this info about Fixmaster! I called a few other appliance repair shops in the area and no luck - they only work on large appliances - but Fixmaster will look at my mixer. How much did they charge for the new motor and replacement work?

I think it was about $60 total for the parts and labor.

Quick Note. Fixmaster is still in business. Their hours are 8am-3pm.

Pete Di Pirro Co. Rutherford Ave, Charleston (opposite from Hood's)

I had a good experience here. Never seen Fibber McGee's closet but I'd say this workshop comes close!

Call Hesco Appliance parts in Stoneham a call and ask them if they can suggest someone locally. Their focus is more appliances than kitchen electronics, but the manager there Kevin deals with all the service companies.

FWIW, I remember that Suburban Appliance in Needham serviced KitchenAid mixes and always seemed to have the parts around. However, their storefront looks to be closed (and the web site directs to different numbers -- different former employees?? depending on the item). If thats handy, you might check that page.

Some restaurant equipment suppliers also would probably work on it. Such as Pete DiPirro in Charlestown, but they tend to be a bit pricey.

Pardon the interruption, folks, but in order to keep the regional boards strictly local, we ask that you limit your comments in this thread to places in the Boston Area.

          Thank you!

The motor on mine died last year (not the machine's fault) and we contacted Kitchen Aid. Fortunately ours was still under warranty and they sent us a prepaid shipping box. We sent it off and it was returned to us months later in perfect condition.

Maybe they could do the same for you? I am not sure if you can pay for the fix if your mixer is no longer under warranty.

There is a Kitchenaid forum that might be helpful and can be found here
