Anniversary lunch spot in/around Chelsea
I'm looking for a nice place for LUNCH with my hubby on our anniversary. He works on 8th & 15th. Anywhere walking distance from there. (We're good walkers!)
Does not have to be fancy. Just looking for an enjoyable venue with solid food.
thanks.

Fleur de Sel also has two excellent value lunch prix-fixes. Not too far -- on 20th, b/t 5th & B'way. Superb cuisine and a lovely place to celebrate a special occasion.

Perry St. is a little further south from where you are but you cannot go wrong with their price fixe.
Also cookshop on 20th and 10th is NEVER a let down.

I must say that our one experience at Cookshop a few months ago was quite disappointing. Not that the food was bad, but it was not nearly as good as I had anticipated given all the high praise it gets. I also expected more cordial service than the let's-just-get-it-done attitude from the wait staff. One other thing I found somewhat bothersome was the rather high noise level. Overall, I'm not exactly rushing back..

re: alyssabrooke
It was a Sunday evening, and the place was packed! I like to say that a restaurant has only one chance to make a first impression, and for me, Cookshop's was less than impressive. To be fair, our daughter and her husband had had a very good experience there, which is a major reason we decided to try it. So, you could be right. Though, as I said, I'm not rushing to go back, I haven't completely written it off.

Gascogne is very close by, on 8th, b/t 17th & 18th. Delicious food, charming interior, and, when the weather is conducive to outdoor dining, one of the loveliest gardens in the city.
Happy Anniversary and Bon Appetit!
