Lil' Taqueria in Tarpon Springs...

Mild Bill May 20, 2008 09:13 AM

One day a month I'm in Tarpon for work and I've passed by this kinda new place on my way to the job, and then Costa's for lunch...

This quaint hole-in-the-wall used to be a small BBQ place next to a convenienve store noticable soon after you turn onto Tarpon Avenue coming off of US19...

It's now a small store-front Taqueria called Cielito Lindo--- 'hand-made tortillas' 'tacos' quesadillas', etc. on the window...

One day last week my steering wheel just turned in...

It was great...
Super flavorful, generously stuffed, tacos on toasty soft corn tortillas with onions and cilantro...
I got 2 each of 4 types... They were all good but the al pastor were the best...
$1.99 each I think...

So far, these have been the best I've had, of this type of taco...
Flavorful 'and' generous stuffings...
Maybe even better than La Cabaña del Tio which has been my tops...

Super nice, warm, Mexican moms and abuelas working behind the counter...

Go...

That sounds great! I love small hole in the wall taquerias, I'll keep my eyes open next time I'm in Tarpon. Do you know if they take credit cards or only cash?

Sorry, I usually mention that with these small places...

I'm pretty sure they're cash only--- that's why I first hit the ATM at the big Bank of Amereica on the corner of Tarpon and 19...

Thanks for the heads up. I love small mom and pops with small menus but do them very well.

I finally made it to the taqueria today and it was great. I tried the carnitas tacos and chorizo sope. It's very small with only 3 tables but they are very friendly and tastey food. I will be going back again!

Wow Bill, this is a great endorsement! BETTER than La Cabana del Tio? Is that even possible? Next time I'm that way I'll have to try it out.

In my Sagittarian enthusiasm at the time I said; "maybe even better than"--- when I prolly should have said; 'at least as good as'...

            Can't be dissin' the Tio!

            :-)
