Vegan soft serve/fro yo

  • 9

Does anyone know of someplace in/near west l.a. where they have soft serve substitutes for ice cream or frozen yogurt that's vegan? I looked at some earlier posts about non-dairy soft serve, but I'm not sure if most non-dairy soft serve (available at some fro-yo places) is vegan. Does anyone know whether those non-dairy options are vegan, or if not, where vegan soft serve might be available?
Thanks!

  1. Contact Studio Yogurt. Yes, it's in Studio City (ew, like, the *VALLEY*) but they have non-dairy yoghurt and I'm fairly sure it's vegan. There's also a place on Main Street Santa Monica near Schatzi on Main that has it, if it's still open -- it has been many years since I lived in the People's Republic.

I think you're referring to Sparky's (on Main)?

Bigg Chill at Westwood and Olympic has a non-dairy option. Not sure if it's vegan.

    2. The compounding pharmacy/hippie food bar next to Holloway Cleaners in WeHo on Santa Monica just put up a sign offering vegan non-dairy raw "ice cream." Haven't tasted it but it seems like it might be what you ware looking for.

      1. Real. Live. Raw. in Hollywood/Beachwood Canyon. Raw fro yo and ice cream.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I'll be near Big Chill today, so I"ll stop in and ask if the non-dairy is vegan. I'll let you know.

You might also stop at Yogurt Factory on Santa Monica, a few blocks from Bundy. They always have a couple of non-dairy options as well. Their machines whip well too!

It's not soft serve fro yo, but in a pinch, check out Scoops.

        1. Orean's in Pasadena has fast-food style soft serve that they've long maintained is non-dairy. However, I have read somewhat credible reports that the soft-serve does indeed contain some dairy.

Let me know how the non-dairy stuff at Big Chill is - I live near there and keep meaning to try it.
