and please don't say soy sauce!!! I'm trying to marinate a flank steak to grill for dinner tonight, and just realized I'm all out of both. So, what can I use instead??
Try a combo of the following:
Malt or red wine vinegar
If you've got some achovies, go ahead of chop them up and throw them in there as well.
40% fish sauce
20% tamarind juice
10% soy sauce
It actually works.
But the question is, why? L&P always has coupons, always goes on sale, and keeps perfectly in a dark cupboard for years unopened. Gotta love that paper wrapper and that brown bottle.
