Iron Grill on Pico Blvd?

There is a new place opening up on Pico Blvd in West L.A (across from the Westside Pavillion) in the former Ugo space . The sign outside says "Iron Grill" does anyone have any info on what this is going to be ? I live nearby so was just curious if the Chowhounders have any "inside info" . Hopefully it will be a good local place to eat. I suspect it will be asian food since at one point there was a sign saying "Chinese restaurant coming soon"

  1. A takeout/delivery menu just arrived in today's mail. It looks like a standard Amercianized Chinese restaurant--crab wonton, hot & sour soup, moo goo gai pan, beef with broccoli, a bunch of noodles and rice (including a slightly atypical "spinach fried rice"), etc.--plus a page of sushi rolls and Caesar (!) salad. (Sorry, krom, no snails. :-) ) Unlike most local Chinese places there is no list of "chef specials" or anything like that, so no indication if they might offer something a little less mundane.

Oh, here IS one significant thing on the menu: it says, "We Deliver till 1:30am." That's fairly unusual for early-to-bed West LA, where it's hard even to get pizza that late, so if they can keep that up, they will serve at least one useful role!

The menu includes a website address: www.igrestaurant.com
BUT, when I try to go to this address, I am told it does not exist, and a "whois" search seems to indicate that the address is not currently registered. Hmmmm. . . .

    1. re: PayOrPlay

Chinese *and* sushi??? Very East Coast. Might explain the crab wonton and moo goo gai pan.

    2. thanks for the responses . I live nearby and just saw it opened. Hard to tell if it has much ambience , but prices on the menu seem pretty reasonable. I was also surprised about the Delivery till 1:30am, as most places seem to close before 11am in the area even on weekend nights. It will be nice to have a nearby chinese/sushi place within walking distance if the quality is good.

      1. I ate at Iron Grill on Pico Blvd. and was not impressed. It was really boring tasting Chinese/Thai food. A little overpriced too, for takeout. I would recommend going to Natalie Thai instead on Venice instead.

        1. My take out menu doesn't mention such a late delivery time. It gives the restaurant times as Su-Th....11:00 am to 10:30 pm and F & Sa, 11:00 am til midnight. The thing I do like, and I'm going to try it today, is that you can order lunch as late as 5:00 pm daily. It's probably a smaller portion (I don't want leftovers) and less money and will make a good dinner.

          1. And it looks like it's out of business? They don't seem to be answering the phone lately. We had been ordering lunch at work - passably good sushi with a 1/2 price deal that put a satisfying sushi lunch in the company price range.... Anyone driven by lately? Not heartbroken, but curious.
