Tamal, tamale, however it's supposed to be spelled, where's the best ones? I'm think the Mexican/TexMex/New Mexican variety, but feel free to chime in with Salvadoran recs, too.

When they have them, the tamales at Fiesta Mexicana in Rosedale are magnificent. I shall have to try Michelle's though.

Haven't tried Sinaloa yet, but I really like the pork ones served by the taco truck on Broadway.

Another vote for the pork tamales from the Broadway taco truck, but I always buy a good number of tortillas from the Tortilleria Sinaloa, and keep plenty in the freezer, because they are Da Bomb!

Best ive had are @ Michelle's Cafe on Eastern Ave.

Quaint, bright, and cheery family run spot. Usually have 4-5 kinds, all delicious. They sometimes sell-out though.

Just a heads up, there are only 1-2 tables, so seating could be extremely tight. I've always done carry-out, tamales travel easy.

While not nearly a connoisseur of the tamale, I must say that the one I shared with Mr Baltoellen on Saturday at Tortilleria Sinaloa was excellent. The masa wrapping was light, the filling flavorful, and the entire thing was lacking in grease. (Which I know appeals to some folks, but grease running down my arm isn't really my thing.)
