BLT Prime - cook w/ a cold?
Went last night and *every* side we ordered was definitely over-salted. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she said the cooks are "generous with their seasonings". That, or they want to make you thirsty and run up a big bar tab. Perhaps it's my folly for going on a Saturday night, but there is nothing special about that place.
Among the too-salty dishes were the filet, hash browns, gnocchi, tater tots and hen of the woods. The other distinctly average dishes were the spinach, ceasar salad and chocolate tart.
I went last night as well and while I didn't find anything oversalted I found it to be quite subpar. We had an excellent and knowledgable waiter to start and then he was replaced by someone who was basically nonexistent.
We enjoyed the soft shell crab appetizer and the wonderful popovers, but the porterhouse was only so so. I was told this was their signature cut of beef by the waiter and I guess I was just expecting a little bit more. Our side if scalloped potatoes had little to no flavor- they actually could have used some salt!
Our desserts were quite good but for the price overall I will not be going back.
That's unfortunate. I went to BLT Prime in Nov and it was fantastic. I had a great porterhouse for two which was cooked perfectly (albeit maybe a little too charred). The sides were great for us- spinach, tater tots, gnocchi. The only disappoting one was the hen of the woods which were oversalted.
Desserts were tremendous!
