How to revive crystalized HONEY?

boomer13 May 17, 2008 08:21 PM

I guess I never use up my honey before it starts to crystalize. Any suggestions on how to get it softer if not back to it's clear fluid state?

Put the container of honey in a pan of gently simmering water.

I agree with this, but be careful- you don't want to crack the jar. We use just-simmered water with the burner turned off.

Microwave in its container for 10 - 15 seconds.

I microwave it until melted but not hot.

if you can microwave on low that is better because it boils over fast and makes a big mess

I have done these methods ... thanks. I have even tried (out of boredom) experimenting with adding some of the warm water (that is simmering the honey ) actually IN WITH the honey. Which actually waters it down a bit, but gets the process started.

Has anyone tried ADDING anything to the actual HONEY rather than just the HEATing?
I am curious & will to experiment, since this honey was inexpensive. Thanks.
