Glasgow recommendations

My husband and I will be in Glasgow the first week in July. We're staying near the University, won't have our own car, but we're planning on using public transportation or taxis when needed (i.e. we're not limited to locations within walking distance). Does anyone have any suggestions on where to eat? I don't have any particular preferences for type of cuisine - I just want to eat at good places that aren't too expensive ($20-$25 (USD) per entree would be at the top of our budget). I've never been to the UK before, so local fare would be welcome as well.

I have posted this before, but, here goes. I loved Cafe Gandolphi in Merchant City. We enjoyed everything on the menu, especially the cullen skink [smoked haddock chowder.] Local produce well prepared and served by people who smiled easily.

It's not exactly local cuisine but the Shish Mahal (www.shishmahal.co.uk) fits your criteria. Stravaigin (http://www.stravaigin.com) does a reasonably priced menu at lunchtime
