Has anyone ever been irritated by the owner of this otherwise pretty good greasy spoon? The food is solid, but I find myself not wanting to go because of the unpleasantness the guy exudes. It's as if he feels that the job of working at a restaurant is somehow beneath him. He deliberately ignores requests (for fun?), is always sarcastic, makes snide, totally unsolicited comments, and is difficult for no reason. I find myself praying that I won't be seated at the front of the place where he normally presides. I suspect some will say that his quirky personality is an antidote to the generally bland and indifferent treatment on offer at other establishments. While I like personality, this guy makes the whole thing toxic.

  1. I haven't been there in a while partly because of almost the opposite behaviour from the older guy (probably the original owner and father). He is overly friendly and I think deems himslf a "Shecky Green" type. Has that friendly/sarcastic humour approach. Offputting.

    1. bialy, have you tried Zoulpy's yet?

No - good breakfast? Normal, non-quirky owner?

Just a good old-fashioned diner where the breakfast is HUGE, good, and very reasonably priced. Yes, the people there are N & N-Q.

Thanks, we'll try it this week-end.

      2. I dunno, I find that if I am engrossed in conversation with whoever I am he tends to not say much to me. If he does try to chat us up, we usually don't respond overly enthusastically. Can't beat that food in the downtown core, love it,

        1. I agree with googs . . . Give Zoulpy's a try . . . All their food is quite good and of great value!!
