Has anyone been to the Old World Provisions pastrami outlet in Albany?

According to Steve Barnes's blog, Old World Provisions has opened a retail store at 84 Westerlo in Albany. Again according to Barnes, Old World Provisions provides pastrami for Katz's Deli, which some people downstate seem to like. Might be worth a try.

  1. I thought I saw an ad in today's Times Union that they were opening this Tuesday?

Grand opening this Tuesday at 11, but I think maybe they're already open.

      Old World Provisions - CLOSED

    2. OK, I've been there; I guess I get the Chowhound scoop. Very chow-houndish. Storefront outlet for the factory at the same location that apparently produces the pastrami and the corned beef for Katz's and other NY non-kosher delis. Pastrami, corned beef, tongue, and salami for sale, all $8.99/lb., sliced (mechanically) if you want. Rye bread, seeded and unseeded from Rockland Bakery also for sale, deli mustard, and a selection of Dr. Brown's beverages. But no sandwiches,; you have to buy the supplies and make your own. I've done just that. Delicious.

      1. Must be closed on Saturdays. Tried to phone them today to check their hours and only got voicemail.

Anybody know their hours and days of the store being opne?

According to Steve Barnes's blog, it's 11-6, weekdays.

        2. As an outlet to the public, this location has closed. I understand that Ben and Bill's Deli in the Slingerlands Price Chopper uses the same corned beef and pastrami. Your other option is to drive to the company's retail store in Troy, NY, 12 Industrial Park Rd. This is also where those famous little Helmbold hot dogs are produced. They have weekday and Saturday hours. You could try calling them (518) 273-0810, or check them out on FaceBook.

I agree with those who rave about their corned beef and pastrami... especially the pastrami.
