I'm a dessert fanatic. Always have been, always will be. I've been disappointed by the best of them (Delices de Dawn comes to mind) So imagine my surprise when on the whim of a delivery of ribs for the entire family I found THE (2nd) best brownie I've ever tasted in Montreal.

At that point really I'm not even sure its a brownie. White frosting, caramel cooling, chocolate sauce and nuts. Jesus H. Christ that was good. Really, whatever you want to call it, it was DELICIOUS.

Does anyone know if they get their desserts from a bakery of if its a standard recipe for the entire chain because DAMN.

And the BEST brownie in Montreal (for me anyway) was somewhere 'cheap' too. The Second Cup Monster Brownie, available at the corner of Sainte-Catherine, near concordia. If anyone knows this then they know what I'm talking about. A lot more 'brownie' than the Score counterpart, this one is a classic for the ages.

My yardstick is pretty wide. I've definitely had Kakao brownies....and the previous comment stands. :)

D de D: I ended up getting two cakes since one of the guests insisted on bringing their own dessert (chocolate mousse cup- they were alright): The Rasberry Mango and the White Chocolate Brownie Cake.

I assume that the Rasberry Mango was delicious because, well I didn't get a chance to taste it; it was all gone.

There was White Chocolate Brownie left and I was THOROUGHLY dissapointed. Simply put; it had no taste. It's really quite a bizarre feeling to eat a cake, feel the sweetness, and texture and yet be thoroughly underwhelmed by any semblant of a taste. It felt extremely sweet but at the same thing you couldn't get a grasp of the taste....Like eating sugar dough basically. Felt like a wasted 50 dollars that one. Honestly, the McCain chocolate frost cakes from IGA leave a stronger/better impression.

The best thing about that cake was its appearance- which was also the reason why I ordered it. It was definitely one of those "picture perfect only" experiences. -Sigh...

Does Dawn's Desserts, list their ingredients for all their cakes & pies I wonder(to see if they're using top quality ingredients)? It's been a couple of years since I ordered whole cakes from them.
