La Sirene de la Mer?
Hi All
New to this board and have been reading some of the posts...to the detriment of my work...anyway thinking of taking my parents to La Sirene de la Mare. Am I right in thinking there are 2 locations, one near Adonis on L'Acadie, and one on Jean Talon? If so any preferences?
Thanks!

As far as I know they are unrelated. The one next to Adonis on L'Acadie is pretty good. The one on Jean Talon is really really good. I went with a Lebanese friend who knew all the ins and outs, and the one dish that will forever stay with me was called something like Fish Tripoli Style. Quite incredible.

re: bomobob
It's a chain or franchise operation of some sort and is preparing to open a third store in DDO. See http://english.montrealplus.ca/portal...

re: BLM
A family operation with three stores could be considered a small chain: "a group of enterprises or institutions of the same kind or function usually under a single ownership, management, or control" www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/chain

Not sure why you've got a bee in your bonnet over this. No problem if you balk at calling Sirene a chain. My choice of that word was meant to imply cookie cutter: same concept (fish monger cum resto), same menu, same decor, same attempt to appeal to a car-driving clientele (none of the operations are close to the metro or in pedestrian-friendly neighbourhoods; all have ample parking) and same reasonable prices. I guess you could argue that Milos or places like English's Olives are high-end chains, though I wouldn't -- partly due to the price, partly due to the somewhat less formulaic settings and menus. In any case, chain or not, the TMR location of Sirene offers good food at good prices. And, for Montreal, their fish shop is pretty good too.
