What has Food Network done to the TV schedule?
Has anyone noticed that the daytime schedule on FN has changed for the worse? Where are the cooking shows? The shows are all geared toward men (no offense) ie: guys big bite, diners, drive ins etc...dinner impossible, where are my cooking shows?? They start when my kids get home from school-too late.
According to the schedule on their website, this is the mid-late afternoon lineup. Of course, I suppose they should take everyone's individual schedules into account when setting the lineup.
2:00pm Guy's Big Bite (a cooking show -- though it seems you don't like it).
2:30 pm 30 Minute Meals
3:00 pm Quick Fix Meals with Robin Miller
3:30 pm Tyler's Ultimate
4:00 pm Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee
4:30 pm Everyday Italian
5:00 pm Barefoot Contessa
5:30 pm Paula's Home Cooking
6:00 pm 30 Minute Meals
6:30 pm 30 Minute Meals

Since I'm working during the day, I'm far more worried about what they've done to the night schedule. While I know that many people seem to like Alton Brown, neither of us can stand him, so that cuts out the 8pm hour. Then on more nights than not, it's followed by the Food Network Challenge. Which my wife says was designed by and for women who have no life. I don't know if I agree, but I have no use for the show. So the main 8p-10p hours, when we used to watch FNTV almost exclusively our TV goes to other channels. I would be interested to know how many other people have left FNTV at those hours now that Emeril is at 7. Maybe their new line up is doing great, but personally, I can't think of two more boring shows.

food network challenge is normally really boring to me, but there's one on right now about sandwich making by which i'm strangely intrigued. the guy from katz's deli is competing, actually.
i think i just love good creative sandwiches.

I've never thought of Ina Garten's recipes being of interest only to women, or Bobby Flay's only to men.

see, i disagree -- and maybe it's just a matter of style. Flay has a delivery -- amplified by that bleached blond TGIF spokesmodel -- that practically screams 'high five, bro!!' at two-minute intervals. all bluster, no communication. i much prefer ina garten and ellie krieger. i know it's all about entertainment value and not food, but i can get screamed at on any of 39 espn channels ...
