New eatery in Birchcliff

South-west Scarborough isn't a world gourmet capital, but it has some good spots. One that just opened (or re-opened) is Hit the Spot Eatery. It's in the same space as the former Stavros Greek takeout, on Kingston Road just west of Warden Avenue. It's run by the same Greek-Canadian family as the old place, but the place has taken on a second life with brand-new kitchen equipment and a fresh facelift, adding tables. The menu is expanded from the original Greek fare to include Panini sandwiches (I must try the Philly-chese steak), gourmet pizzas, and even Pasta Del Giorno. Hours are 11 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday, and they deliver - 416-698-9658. I'm not connected with Hit the Spot, just a former very satisfied customer of Stavros takeout.
