Are any of the little Mexican or other joints on Osborne between the 5 and 210 any good? I've tried the little neon-lit taco truck by the railroad (ehh) and Papas y Tacos at Laural Canyon (also just so so I thought), but there are a bunch of other on or near by this stretch of road. Anyone have insight that can save me from hunting and pecking around on my own?

Is there any really standout food elsewhere in Pacoima?

That is a pretty dismal stretch. Had an awful lunch at Papas y Tacos on my way to the beautiful huge pool at Hansen Dam. There is a mexican fish place near the 7/11 on the west side of the park but haven't tried it yet.

Looking at Yahoo! maps, it looked like there might be more action a couple of blocks over on Van Nuys Blvd. Maybe I need to expand my search?

Tacos El Oso is a fairly good. It's on the corner SE corner of Van Nuys and Arleta. Owner started with a taco truck many years ago; now has two bricks and mortar stores (other location on Maclay next to the Sylmar border). They have the typical choices which you could expect from a truck.

I recommend the tacos al pastor or carne asada burrito without beans.

I can't say if there's any ambiance, I always get the food to go.

It's worth the stop for an urge.
