Foodie friends visiting...

PetiteSyrah May 15, 2008 08:50 AM

Foodie friends visiting from Chicago next month. They suggested Italian or Mexican. Since the hubby and I recently moved from LA, Mexican is out. So, looking for suggestions for Italian. Don't want to spend Babbo prices--I think around $50pp not including wine would be good, a little more would also be okay.

Was thinking about:
A Voce

But would love suggestions....

Peasant is great. I've only been to A Voce once and wasn't very impressed, but I'm not sure now would be the time to go with Carmellini in the process of leaving (if he hasn't left yet).

For something on the formal side, L'Impero is great and will just about fit your budget. For more casual, Pepolino has wonderful food in a more rustic atmosphere.

Peasant is delicious. Have you thought about Lupa? I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a recommendation for Crispo. I'd skip it.

Actually going to Crispo tonight, for a casual dinner with friends. Does Lupa take reservations?

Yes, but they go fast, so call ahead. I think their policy is one month in advance to the date.

Why skip Crispo? Am considering it for a dinner w/4 out of town friends in a couple of weeks.
