Italain Rainbow Cookies--SD
Does anyone know where I can find Italian Rainbow cookies in San Diego? I have been searching for them since I moved here (8 months ago), with no success. I have tried Mona Lisa, the Italian Bakery down the street from them, Assenti's pasta, Major Market in Escondido, the gourmet market in Del Mar (can't remember the name), and a couple others in passing. Anywhere I may have missed? I could make my own, but they're a lot of work.

Fillipi's Pizza Grotto has an Italian store/deli in the front of the restaurant that has cookies from Mike's Pastry in Boston flown in. We've had them and they are the real deal. Not sure if they have rainbow cookies, but they have a decent variety and they sure taste like home.

I bought rainbow cookies from Fillipi's the other day. They are not NEARLY as good as the bakery I went to in New York. Not even close; they're horrible. I will look around one more time. If I don't find ones that are as good as the ones in NY, then I will have my friend ship them here.

Just returned from NYC and BOS with some Italian cookies, including rainbows, sfogliatella, rum baba and other goodies. OH YAH, cookies $8.50 per pound, large sfogiatella and rum baba $1.75 each. For the life of me, I can't understand why places like Solunto's sell cookies for $20. per pound, is flour in SD that much more expensive.

Someone posted about this Italian Bakery a couple of years ago, and I don't know if they're still in business. Try giving them a call and see if they're still there, and, if so, if they have what you're looking for. Good luck!
