Graduation dinner

Where can I go around midtown (west side preferably) for dinner with my family after graduation? There'll be about 11 of us and I want to go somewhere around $20 a plate (not fancy). there are a bunch of picky eaters in the group which adds to my difficulty chosing a place.

  1. Does the $20 include tax, tip, and/or drinks? How much alcohol do you expect people to drink?

the $20 doesn't include tax and everything. The group doesn't have any big drinkers, so I'm not worried about that. One very old Grandma who hates loud music happens to be part of the group.

        Hey, Dentalgirl,

        Congrats on your graduation!

You don't mention any cuisine preference(s), so I'll suggest these two restaurants which can easily accommodate a group your size:

West Bank Cafe, on 42nd St., b/t 9th & 10th Avs. serves delicious New American cuisine and has friendly, capable service. Very nice decor and a conversation-friendly noise level. Main courses are in the $20 range, i.e., some under, some slightly over.

Trattoria Trecolori, on 47th St., b/t B'way & 8th Av., is our favorite Italian in that area. Excellent homestyle fare is served by an efficient staff in a large space with attractive decor. No loud music. Prices are a good fit for your budget.
