Breakfast and dinner recs in Sonoma?

  • 3

We are attending Passport to Sonoma Valley Wine Weekend this coming weekend and I would love some tips for great places to breakfast or dinner. We have already been to The Girl and the Fig (yum!) and we plan to go back one of the nights we are there. We will be staying in the town of Sonoma and the Wine Tasting will start out at The Lodge at Sonoma, which is located at the Plaza. Day 1 we will spend in Sonoma/Carneros and Day 2 we will go north to the Kenwood/Glen Ellen regions.

These restaurants will be offering free corkage to Passport attendees, so feedback on any of them would be fabulous. So hard to decide...

  1. Deuce - really dislike it. Preferrential treatment for repeat, local customers and the food wasn't anything I'd want to repeat.

The General’s Daughter - out of this list the best choice

the girl and the fig - Second best of what I've tried on your list

    1. It's a bit out of the way, but not really. if you drive out of town on Arnold Drive (?) and get back on the 121 towards Napa for 15 minutes you will find the Boon Fly Cafe at the Carneros Inn on your left. It is absolutely amazing breakfast food. Donughts, BLTE (egg), pancakes, too! Highly encouraged to get out there and go!

If you are at the Lodge at Sonoma, that is on Napa Road and Broadway (Hwy 12). The best way to get to Boon Fly Cafe would be to go east on Napa Road (not Napa Street, so confusing). It will T at the Carneros Hwy, turn left and proceed towards Napa. If you get to Hwy 29 (light at T intersection) you went too far.

Of your list, I personally have had disappointing meals at most of them except the girl and the fig. Haven't been to Sonoma Meritage, the Carneros Bisto, or the The Gen's Daughter in quite a while, so can't really comment. We recently had an incredibly mediocre lunch at the Big 3. The Red Grape is a fun place to go for locals, the food is good but not incredible, the patio is lovely, the people are nice. For breakfast/lunch on a nice morning, the Sunflower Caffe is nice, even though it isn't on your list.
