Are there any Italian Ice places in Manhattan anymore???? Not sorbet from places like
Grom, Arte, Il Lab. or Cones Not Marino's at the local pizza`parlor. Along the lines of Lemon Ice King of Corona, Uncle Louis G's or Ralph's. Excluding the tropical flavored icy carts on the L.E.S I can't find a place anywhere in the city. Any hidden places I have not come across??

There was a guy with an italian ice truck at one of the street fairs last weekend called Pappi's Italian Ices. I tried the Spumoni and the watermelon, which came in the extra large size for $3. Great deal. Spumoni had real chips and was excellent. Watermelon tasted kind of like those Marino's cups, so not so great. He had about a dozen flavors.

There's also that corner pharmacy Essentials Plus on the UWS that has a huge list of flavors. I don't think they made them in house, and I've never tried it myself.

Rocco's pastry shop on Bleeker is pretty good for the standard flavors, like pistachio.

I came across Pappi's truck on the corner of 22nd and Park last weekend. You can look up the fair schedules online now, as they go block to block across the city each. I think there's only one truck though, and I couldn't find a website to figure out his next location. It's a smaller white, old fashioned looking truck though, and the sign says it's available for block parties, and birthdays.

The drug store called Essentials Plus on the UWS that sugartoof mentioned sells Italian ices out of a window, right on the corner of 81st st. and B'way. I'm not well versed in quality Italian ices, but these are recognizably better than Marino's cups. And they're hella cheap.

There is a little woman with a cart outside of the Time Warner Center every evening when I get off the subway at about 7:15. She has several flavors. She is usually right across from the Time Warner Center near the 1 train entrance closest to the Trump hotel.

I like the ices at DeRobertis on first avenue (btwn 10th and 11th). Costs more to eat in, so get a nice chocolate ice and stroll... I can't remember what other flavors they have since I always get chocolate, lemon and cremolata and maybe melon...?

if anyone is ever up on columbia medical school's campus (W168th and Brdwy), there are small ice pushcarts on nearly every corner. flavors are typically mango, pineapple, cherry and chocolate. $1 gets ya a decent-sized cup of very flavorful ice. there's usually one pushcart stationed on the west side of brdwy between W168 and W165 (this is one long block that skips the other streets) right outside of hospital building known as the "Energy Court". I am curious to try the other places posted here.

I don't think the OP wanted a pushcart, but aren't they selling shaved ice anyway? I always thought shaved ice, and italian ices as being different....one being preblended, and one being soaked in syrup before serving, like a sno-cone. It occurs to me that some of the old style lemon iced places are doing more of a shaved iced thing though. Hmm.

there are a few stray pushcarts selling shaved ice, but most of them do sell the pre-blended stuff. there are actually pushcarts all around the city, not just around w. 168th. (lots on b'way in the 90s, in the w. 60s... really they're swarming in the summer.)

hi sugartoof, i completely agree that this wasn't exactly what the OP wanted but the ones i've tasted up near my office are definitely pre-blended, and close to the quality of the good stuff found in several of the queens locations listed by the OP. the pineapple is to die for.
