Need A Place To Eat In Kingston, RI Area

Happygirl May 13, 2008 04:02 PM

Hello. I need a good place to eat this evening in the Kingston/Narragansett area. We are travelling with one vegetarian. I have looked at previous postings, which include Crazy Burger. Is there any other "great" place anyone might like to recommend?? Thank you.

This is so funny to see this posting! I just came home from trying a new restaurant, for us, in Narragansett. My husband & I are both vegetarian. We had dinner tonight at Arturo Joe's. They had quite a few vegetarian choices, pasta & pizza, but pretty good. I got the eggplant parmesan (made with meat in sauce but they made it for me with nonmeat sauce) it was great, amazingly light and airy for an eggplant parm. My husband got a pizza that was great. We'd go back. We always like The Mews. Great pizza! Large menu. I have heard wonderful things about Spain, they have a vegetarian dish. We drove by there tonight, Tuesday, it was packed!

The Mews is my favorite Wakefield/Kingston eatery. Lots of beers to choose from, too.

For really delicious vegetarian dishes, along with meat for carnivores, I recommend Markos' on Boon Street in Narragansett. It's a tiny Middle Eastern place that makes excellent food. And it's cheap too!

Marko's is awesome as is Crazy Burger and Esthia (Greek) in Wakefield near the mall. If you are looking for something more formal then Crave on Main street in Wakefield is exceptionally good.

I love Crazy Burger. I am probalby the only RI'er who doesn't feel the Mews-love. I stopped in for the first time ever about two yrs ago. It didn't seem clean and had an odor....we turned and left.

Make that two....or actually more. Went with a group of about 6, all were turned off by the overall dirtiness and underwhelming food. Beer list is extensive, but a lot of it was not very fresh tasting. A few beers were sent back for being very off.

YES! That Mews-odor - I know exactly what you're talking about. It's like this stale, old spilled beer on carpet that's never been cleaned, smell. I like the beer, but they really need to clean that place up big time.

My wife and I tried Mews for the first time last summer after living in the area for fifteen years. We will not return, below average burger and standard french fries, not worth the wait and noise level.

Does your vegetarian eat seafood? If yes - try Crave on Main Street in Wakefield. Cheeky Monkey is in the Pier - haven't eaten at CM since they were in Newport but the Mussels and Cheese Bread were amazing. Has any one had dinner there yet? Crazy Burger is delish - and BYOB. At Arturo Joe's they will substitute more veggies for the pasta in the pasta dishes - yum. As for the Mews - drinks, yes, food, no.
