Dandelion wine?

Asumnuthin May 13, 2008 12:10 PM

Has anyone seen the signs for this?
Is it a wine bar or a store?

Gosh - my grandparents used to make this back in the day. It was disgusting to my 5 year old palate, but they seemed to like it.

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone making it commercially. I'd imagine the farmland areas of PA would have some local sellers of the stuff - I've seen all kind of fruit and vegetable wines.

Maybe they will carry this Dandelion wine. It seems perverse enough to try. Well, once anyway.

          "Turpentine and dandelion wine,
I've turned the corner and I'm doin' fine,
shootin' at the birds on the telephone line,
pickin' 'em off with this gun o' mine.
Got a fire in my belly and a fire in my head,
goin' higher and higher, till I'm dead."

I saw them inside last night after I ate dinner at Brooklyn label last night, great new chef acquisition!

stopped in over the weekend and got a few bottles from what appears to be a thoughtfully-chosen selection. the place has a great look, with a friendly and passionate owner. sadly, someone threw a brick through one of the large windows last friday night. i hope that was a completely freakish one-off.
