Birthday Party for Husband

I am thinking of having a lowkey party for my husband's birthday in a month. I am generally thinking of 10-15 people, at a restaurant or bar. Nothing fancy but a private room would be great. Something in Oakland is preferred, open to any kind of food. Budget is $1500-2000. Any ideas? Thanks

Oliveto has a private room that could work well for this.

I thought of Oliveto but it's about as fancy as it gets in Oakland. Not that the customers dress up or anything.

The private room at Cesar on Piedmont can hold up to 10. They can seat more at the big table in the dining room, but that's pretty much the opposite of private.

At À Côté, there's a small private room on the side of the patio.

Pizzaiolo has a back room with a big table, not exactly private since you have to go through there to get to the bathroom or patio seating.

I threw a large dinner for my husband last April at A Cote and got top-notch food/wine/service. They had us primarily in the back patio area but the day of the dinner it was a bit chilly so they kindly gave us the large table in front. We were there approximately 4 hours and every second of it was fun. For a party of 16 (their max) we ended up paying $67 per person (15 ppl) with no shortage of fine wine, cocktails, tapas and desert for all. I highly recommend A Cote. Good luck!
