Rehoboth Beach - Crabs

After searching the boards for ages, I am at a loss for options for steamed blue crabs, preferably "all you can eat", in the Rehoboth area (incl. Dewey/Fenwick). Our go-to place used to be Crab Barn on Rt 1, which I understand is now no longer. I've seen a couple of places thrown around (Lazy Susans, Crabbers Cove in Dewey, Fenwick Crab House, Claws on Rehoboth Ave, Mickeys Crab House) but I haven't seen any real solid support behind one of these. Upscale isn't necessary, its about the crabs. Paper on the table, beer, etc is perfectly good. Any thoughts?

I think that there is a lack of solid support because crab shacks tend to be very local, and there is a big difference in the towns they serve.
Lazy Susan's is great in Rehoboth, but I'm in Bethany, so I only go occasionally. Love Mickey's and Fenwick and Blue Crab in Bethany. All authentic...

      Hello!
I have been to Claws in Rehoboth and my DH and I loved it. Not only do they have A Y C E crabs, but usually a $14.95 lobster dinner special.
      I just called and the prices are;
      $35.99 all you can eat
      ^$60 a dozen for larges\
      $75 a dozen for x larges
      and
      $90 a dozen for Jumbos

      Happy Crab Picking! YUM

If you are willing to drive right over the Delaware line to North Ocean City, Rippon's has the BEST carry-out crabs, at a reasonable price. It's a carryout place but you can get the supplies from them to set up at your condo or hotel. I think there's one picnic table outside. Also known for their other seafood and crab deviled eggs. Very high quality at a great price--and you can choose the size crabs you want. Sold by the bushel or half bushel, I think.

Lazy Susan's has great service and a great casual atmosphere - beer, paper on the table - just what you're talking about. They recently moved to a new, larger location on the other side of Route 1. I haven't been in yet. Crabber's Cove is nice because you can enjoy your crabs with a view of the bay. There's also Ed's Chicken and Crabs in Dewey. I have never been here but it is always packed. I think all of the seating is outside and it is ultra-casual - bathing suits seem to be acceptable attire here.

I know of the other two places you mention. They look fun but I have never been to either. If you are staying right in Rehoboth, Claws offers the ideal location.

I live in Lewes and we occasionally make the trek to the Old Mill in Delmar (about 45 minutes from Rehoboth) or to the Red Roost in Whitehaven, MD for hardshells. The former is in a refurbished general store and the latter is in what was formerly a chicken house. If you want to make a side trip from the beach, one or the other could be worth checking out.

Yes, unfortunately, the Crab Barn is gone. My then fiance and I discovered the place and shared a meal there circa 1986 or 87. With newspaper lined tables, wooden mallets and a load of crustaceans, it had to be one of the best, most fun and memorable meals of my life. Life goes on and things change...

I agree with Jen, you can't go wrong with Lazy Susan's.

And Allyson, wherever you are... I'll always remember the Crab Barn and our time at the DE and MD shore.

Is this the same Old Mill that used to be in Bethany Beach area?
