private area / room suggestions for a 30th bday

does anyone have any suggestions for private areas / room in a restaurant type setting? casual is definitely fine! my husband is turning 30 and i'm trying to find an appropriate setting for his birthday party. guests will be a mix of family and local friends in their thirties. approx 25 - 30 people.

some venues i've already considered:
wine steals
d street bar & grill in encinitas
arterra's poolside cabana
yogi's outdoor patio

any more suggestions?

thanks for the suggestions everyone. i think i've settled on urban solace for dinner (we'll have the outdoor patio to ourselves) with a pre-set menu, which we'll host.

then to pink elephant for drinks later on.

d street really would've been ideal, but every other place i called allowed the f&b to count towards your room/area fee. d street charges $250 for the private area + f&b ++. i just couldn't get beyond their charges on pure principle alone.

Uhh how about the viggie's in Leucadia? the place is kinda rambling and there is a back room (house?) that I have seen them set up for private parties. It is really quite nice back there. Yeah I know the food is not the greatest, but I think its good and I think most people would be pleased, as opposed to a place that may be more adventourous sp? but might turn off some people.

En Fuego in Del Mar?? They have a large outdoor patio and bar area that I think you can reserve for private parties.

daantat - i thought of that too, but the husband burned himself out on mexican food when we first moved to san diego. now he has to be in the mood for it.

No suggestions that I can think of right now, but I attended a surprise party at wine steals. It was a nice place that accommodates a big group.
