I'm looking for somewhere to celebrate this Wednesday in center city. Price range is moderate (not looking for LaCroix, Le Bec Fin, etc. expensive) or a little above and would like it to be quiet, not showy atmosphere. Any recommendations? Is it too late to get a reservation for Wednesday? Thanks in advance!

Do you want a byob or a place with a bar?
Street parking or center/parking lot?
Any special cuisine?
Narrow it down a bit and we'll try to give suggestions.

Thanks for reminding me...We'll be using septa, so anywhere within walking distance of 30th street, Market East or Suburban Station is ideal. And we're walkers, so that could be up to 10 blocks or so. I don't have a preference in BYOB or bar and I'm open to any cuisine! I don't have much experience with Philly restaurants, so I can't say many that I've liked or disliked, except that I really liked the atmosphere and food of Tinto but don't particularly enjoy places like El Vez or The Continental.

Location-wise, you're right near Rae which is in the Cira Center (the oddly shaped glass building right near 30th St Station).

If you get off at Market East, you are very close to Chinatown and Old City.
Chinatown: Rangoon (Burmese Cuisine), Vietnam (Vietnamese), Penang (Malasian)
Old City: Fork, Amada, Farmacia.

If you can still get a reservation and don't mind BYO I'd also suggest Matyson which is easy walking distance from Suburban (and not far from a liquor store). They always have great food and service.

Thanks, smackdown, Matyson looks great and not too pricey, either. Unfortunately, I saw this comment a little too late, not until today. But it's in my file for our next celebration dinner. Maybe my birthday! Thanks again.

We wound up going to Vietnam in Chinatown--thanks so much SpdRcr069 for your suggestion. I thought the restaurant was beautiful and there wasn't a long wait (maybe 5 or 8 minutes) even though they don't take reservations. It was quiet and the right price (if not a little underpriced--I felt like I was getting a bargain). And the food was almost as good as my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in DC, Nam-Viet. I thought the pho was a little salty and my crepe (the Banh Xeo) was a little greasy. My husband got the spring rolls and the crispy duck, both of which were fantastic. We had a great time.
