Hello! Anyone know where I might find a good West LA-ish place for sweet potatoes in some form?

(Not Koo Koo Roo or anything that sits in warming trays all day long...)

Thanks!

Maybe not quite in the form you were craving but they have very good sweet potato fries at 17th Street Cafe on Montana in Santa Monica. And of course I always have them at home if we are doing steaks. I love to eat them, skin and all.

Tacone, the fast food chain owned by Rockenwager and located at the Century City Mall, serves good baked yams.

If you love yams, try them this way, this is my favorite.

Slice four dark-fleshed yams in lengthwide strips, 1/2-3/4 inch wide. Try to include at least some skin on each piece. Slice an equal volume of brown onions in slightly thicker pieces. Don't use "chunks."

Mix yams, onions, salt and pepper in large roasting pan. Douse with good olive oil. Mix again. If you need super comfort food, douse with olive oil again.

Roast, uncovered, for 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. Stir every 30 miutes.

Yams are ready when cooked through, glazed in parts, the skin is twisted and flavorful, the onions are a glorious golden hue,and the whole thing is a mess of intense flavor.
