What at which? Oax in LA
I am planning a day trip up to LA of Oaxacan culinary madness for Oaxaquena friend. Looking for some direction from LA hounds.
What dishes to you get at which restaurant? You only get clayudas at... You always order horchata at x?
I can submit the Mole Amarillo at Antequera de Oaxaca.

Breakfast at El Sazon Oaxaqueno (Salsa de Chorizo & Pastries)
Monte Alban (Molotes, Nopalitos, Sopa Azteca, Barbacoa de Chivo, Chilacayote Agua Fresca)
Tacomiendo (Chile Relleno Side Dish... no rice or beans; Escabeche)

The best clayudas I've had are at La Morenita on Third and New Hampshire. They also have great moles which are less sweet than some others.
I concur on Antequera de Oaxaca, both the mole and the various botanos are excellent.
I did a short write up of a few of these places here: http://recenteats.blogspot.com/2007/1...

re: sku
La Morentia is now my go-to Oaxacan place in LA--I just love it.
La Morenita serves at least 3 kinds of mole--negro, coloradito, and amarillo. Their tlayudas are awesome, and the goat tacos are delicious. I've only made it through half of the menu because I keep ordering the tlayudas and coloradito over & over.

Guelaguetza's moles are probably the best, but for every other dish, I prefer Monte Alban in West LA. The memelas, clayudas, and empanadas at Monte Alban are first rate.
Whatever you do, make sure you skip Los 7 Regiones de Oaxaca on Pico, near Western. It's awful. They couldn't even get the tortilla chips right.
