Hi Chowhounders - Any nominations for good cafes in the Toronto/GTA or even those in towns outside of GTA - ones with a nice ambience, good selection of treats and beverages that have loyal followings. Thanks!

There seems to be a lot of love for B Espresso Bar on this board. Haven't been yet which is shameful since it's in my neighbourhood. Definitely on my 'to-do' list. Queen St E two doors west of George.

B Espresso Bar does draw delicious drinks. The place can be a bit cramped and so I often just sip and dash.

Hi all - I'm looking for a cafe with a really good coffee cake somewhere in downtown Toronto... Any recommendations? Thanks!

Had a great coffee cake at Darkhorse near Broadview and Queen. They don't always have it, maybe you could call and ask. I don't live that close but I definitely think that it is worth the trip.

Though you can't often sit there (they only have a few bar stools), I'd definitely add Cherry Bomb to the list. Excellent house blend, really well done lattes, addictive almond cookies, lovely owners, and a neighbourhood cult following. (Roncey, just north of Queen.)

Agree on Tango Palace and will add Red Rocket on Queen E, just east of Greenwood. Great coffee, great atmosphere, spectacular lemon squares, shortbread and interesting sandwiches. Everything is homemade on site, even their dog treats.

I'll add Dark House to the list. Very friendly servers and nice vibe to the place. Not to mention the great lattes.

My favourite tie with Mercury - College & Dufferin: The Common

Another small place - Roncesvalles & Queen: Cherry Bomb

Also on Roncesvalles are Tinto & Alternative Ground were more regular coffee & hang out places like Moonbean (as opposed to espresso-based drinks focused places).

Saw a new place on Harbord east of Bathurst a few days ago - anyone tried that?

Sweet Indulgence on Coxwell just south of O'Connor. Great little neighbourhood spot with many loyal regulars. Delicious baked-on-the-premises cakes, pastries and breads. Tasty sausage rolls, meat pies and sandwiches. Yummy butter tarts and killer double-chocolate cream cheese coffee cake. Everything is delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Pleasant owners and staff. Good coffee.

Right across the street from an LCBO so convenient for weekly wine run.

For coffee lovers, Mercury Cafe on Queen East is fantastic. Bull Dog SE of Church and College is also great - and has more snacks...

I love the Yellow Cup too! Also would recommend The Apricot Tree Cafe on Dundas/Erin Mills in Mississauga
