  1. If you can make it downtown, the guys at Northwestern Cutlery on Lake at Halsted are top notch. I used to take mine to them when I lived and worked in Chicago. They know how to properly sharpen knives without shortening the life of the blade by overgrinding and are very professional, unlike a lot of other folks who offer sharpening services.

Anybody know of any decent options in or around Lakeview?

    2. There is a place on Main Street in downtown Glen Ellyn that does, but I cannot vouch for the quality. Unfortunately I don't know the name.

      1. Just got mine sharpened at Northwestern Cutlery last week. My husband always keeps an edge on them; but they were definitely in need of a professional sharpening. It was about $3.50 per knive, and with mine, my son's and my friends our total was about $80. However, it was WELL worth it. I hate dull knives!! While we were there 2 people came in - I assume they were chefs - with their knives in a rolled holder. I figure if it was good for them in their profession, it works for me. Next time I'm going to see if they do scissors too.
