Sharpening of knives
Any one can help I'm in (630) area code need my knives sharpened. Thanks
If you can make it downtown, the guys at Northwestern Cutlery on Lake at Halsted are top notch. I used to take mine to them when I lived and worked in Chicago. They know how to properly sharpen knives without shortening the life of the blade by overgrinding and are very professional, unlike a lot of other folks who offer sharpening services.
There is a place on Main Street in downtown Glen Ellyn that does, but I cannot vouch for the quality. Unfortunately I don't know the name.
Just got mine sharpened at Northwestern Cutlery last week. My husband always keeps an edge on them; but they were definitely in need of a professional sharpening. It was about $3.50 per knive, and with mine, my son's and my friends our total was about $80. However, it was WELL worth it. I hate dull knives!! While we were there 2 people came in - I assume they were chefs - with their knives in a rolled holder. I figure if it was good for them in their profession, it works for me. Next time I'm going to see if they do scissors too.
