The Monastery of the Angels
No, I haven't gone off the deep end. I heard a rumor that some nuns were making good bread. Made it over to the Beachwood Canyon area, a block North of Franklin at Gower and Carmen Place to the Monastery. Turns out these nuns do make and sell stuff. In particular, they make a really good pumpkin bread for $6 a loaf. And, better still, they make a terrific peanut brittle for $8 a pound. I know--peanut brittle? But it's really good. I didn't exactly see God, but my tongue was smiling. They also make some milk chocolate, sell raffle tickets, etc., etc. Generally open M-Sat, around 9:00 to 4:00 something.
Yes, very good pumpkin bread. And they make a variety of home-made almond roca (tm) style candy which is great.
And they're cloistered nuns. How often does a guy get to see that?

I don't know from cloistered nuns. I think it's cool they have this statue of Michael the Archangel (?) outside that looks more like an action hero than a religious figure.
