They have it by the slice at Little Mexican Cafe too, in New Rochelle. Yum.

I get them at La PiƱata Bakery in Yonkers; 118 New Main St. I think they're quite good but I haven't tried that many so I'm no expert.

Basso Cafe in Norwalk has a delicious, authentic Tres Leches Cake for dessert. I don't know if they'd sell a whole cake, but it might be worth the try.

jfood just saw this place for the first time driving home last night. Then he sees two posts on it.

What is it if you do not mind him asking.

Basso is a little place, as you know, in a spot that hasn't done well in the past. Hopefully, they'll make it. They're lunches are quite good (you can order from the dinner menu at lunch too). The chef is Italian and Venezuelan and is cooking from his background. I think his flavorings are very good--usually more subtle, but tasty.

Renato, the chef, I think used to work at Habana. He's very eager to learn and is accommodating. He said his Thurs. Fri. and Sat. nights are very busy, but lunches are very quiet.

It might help him to have a liquor license, although that doesn't stop Valencia around the corner. I think the difference though is that Basso is going for a little more refined, which means serving wine rather than having customers bring it. (IMHO)

Hope that helps! Try it out and let us know what you think!

David Glass makes a tres leches cake that he sells frozen. I am not sure how authentic it is, but I tried it last week and it was yummy!

I go to his bakery in Bloomfield, CT. If you get on his email list, you will get notification of tastings and that is where I tried the TL cake.

I also tried a new flan cheesecake (yummy), a banana cream cheesecake (not a fan, but my friend loved it) and a new spiced chocolate torte (yummy).

So good from Cristina's. Very moist. We get it filled with strawberries and peaches. The photo itself is edible but it tastes totally weird. Still, its great for a kids' bday. Nothing compares to Cristina's.
