Finally got around to visiting our neighborhood Lebanese place last night. We moved into the 'hood in May and are really enjoying exploring the culinary diversity of SFV.

Carnival was outstanding. I'd been craving Shawarma (beef) for the last few months which is when we went to Tempo and they told us they are only serving chicken shawarma.

Anyway I had a great beef shawrma sandwich and we split a mixed appetizer plate (we ordered the small and it was huge) with hummus, babagnoush, 2 falafel balls and tabouli (sorry for the terrible spelling!).

It was fast, really cheap and totally filling. We will be returning.

The baba ghanouj-mutabel is fantastic here. Nice and smoky. As well, the felafel is some of the best I've tasted, as they use both fava beans and garbanzos/humus to make the balls.

Wednesday special is an okra lamb stew. I think it's great.

I often go to Carnival and like every dish I've had. Do not overlook the Lebanese wines sold at good prices.

I too am a big Carnival booster. Try the fool next time. It's pretty decadent: giant lima beans in a warm olive oil bath heady with garlic. Mmmmm. Service is a bit slow. But given the prices, this is one place where I'm willing to accept having to flag down a waitress.
