Bottarga

Can someone tell me where I can buy Bottarga in the East Bay? I'm not having any luck in tracking it down. I'll drive to San Francisco if it is available there.

Wow, loved the article in The Chronicle. Thanks for the link. I didn't know what Bottarga was in 2006. I went to Olivo (Sardinian Restaurant) in London in February and had it on pasta and it blew me away. Have been looking for it ever since. I've been to The Pasta Shop on Fourth St. and they said they have it once in a while. I will call Rockridge Pasta Shop.

Did you try Ratto's in old Oakland? They usually have all things Italiano...

Bottarga's a pretty esoteric product. I don't believe Ratto's carried it even back before they sold off most of the space and turned it into a sandwich shop.

For restaurants, try La Ciccia. They bring in their own bottarga from Sardinia.

If the Pasta Shop doesn't have it, give Boulette's Larder a call to see if they have it.

I have seen it at the Pasta Shop, too- either in Berkeley or Rockridge. Otherwise, try online!
