I definitely recommend getting a bunch of the pret a manger to share. I like the hummus - actually, I think they're all good. Haven't been recently, so it's hard to comment on what else to order.

If you like beer, the 3C Ale is pretty interesting - a Belgian style with coriander, cumin, and cardamom.

I just went last night. We had the carrot puree and buttered hummus from the pret a manger. They were both very good. Then we split the Sultan's Delight which was DIVINE! It's a tamarind glazed short rib with a smoky eggplant puree which had some pine nuts in it. FOr my entree I had the duck which I thought was really overcooked for the meat and the skin wasn't nice and crispy - it was really fatty which was kind of weird considering how overcooked the meat was. It was served with buttered pita, cinnamon rice pilaf, yogurt, some other sauce, chick peaa and some kind of greens. The greens were SUPER FRESH but I would have thought for this dish they would have been better if a little wilted. My DC had the pork kabobs and ate the entire thing. My rec is to save room for dessert!! I had the cashew sesame tart which is a piece of buttery goodness served with roasted pineapple and a salted caramel ice cream. My two complaints are that the plate was too big so my square kept sliding around, 2) it wasn't more because it was so good!!! I wanted to lick the plate clean it was so good. Next time I'd consider ordering lots of pret a manger and apps and then dessert!! YUM!!

The 3C Ale is one of my favorite beers. I wish it was available retail.

Does anyone know anything more about the bakery plans? The Oleana website says that Sofra Bakery and Cafe will open in June 2008 in the spot that used to be Violette Wine Importers (I suspect they may be disbanding their retail business).

I ate there last night. Fantanstic.
I had the lamb; it was outstanding but not unusual. Everything else was out of the ordinary. My neighbor had the crispy duck and I was blown away.
We had a large vegetarian plate as a shared appetizer (for 4). I don't see it on the menu. Evidently it is normally a main course. My fellow diners had been there before and knew to order this. Again it was all unusual and wonderful.
The baked alaska for dessert is a must. We also had the cremolata which I was less taken with.
Lots of unusual beers. I'm an IPA guy and loved the Snake Dog.

I was there last night (Monday) at 6:30 and it wasn't overly crowded. I'd say if the weather had been nicer we could have sat outside without too much waiting. Dinner was amazing (as always). Started with an eggplant fritter app (a special) - on top were roasted red pepper, muhammarah, feta, and asparagus. Incredible. I wish we'd ordered two. For my meal I had the spinach falafel (my favorite) and spicy fideos with chick peas with green chard (not very spicy. If you want really spicy, I'd ask them to pump up the spice a bit). My DC had the rib eye special which came with feta wrapped in phylo with a yogurt sauce. Minty greens on the side. For dessert we split the Cocoa Hazelnut Tartlet, Hazelnut Cremeux, Warm Chocolate Truffle. I know people on this board love the baked Alaska which I've haven't had (I'm not an ice cream person and not a big fan of coconut) but the cocoa tartlet was one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. In the past I've loved - well, everything I've ever gotten - if it looks good on the menu I'd say you probably can't go wrong. I know I haven't yet.
