Brot & Butter Shop in Munich next to Dallymar

I was in Munich a few weeks ago and went into this store - what a find even though I suffered from sticker shock as an American traveling with dollars. What is this store? It seemed like a cross between Restoration Hardware and upscale Williams Sonoma or Dean & DeLucca. I should have stayed to grab a bite at the front of the shop because the fresh breads looked delicious. Instead I went to Dallymar for a disappointing lunch (except for the dessert). I'm just curious to learn more about this store and whether people actual buy foodstuff there. I almost splurged on the 18euro nutella-like jar.

  1. The store is Manufactum:

I think you can order from their catalogue in the US as well.

They used to be in the Funf Hofe aracade but moved to the new location and added the food counter last year. I never shop for food there as I think one can do just as well at the viktualienmarkt etc. for less money. And the viktualienmarkt is hardly known for being cheap...

But the kitchenware at Manufactum *is* seriously cool.

Yes, that's the name. I took a little recipe card and it reads "Brot & Butter", so that's how I came up with the name. I had to drag myself out of there before spending any serious cash.

The name of the food corner is "Brot und Butter", apparantly run seperatly from the hardware sortiment ;)
