Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Manhattan

where to buy fresh shiso leaves - preferably downtown

hello all,

i need to buy some fresh shiso/perilla leaves for a bbq tomorrow and would love some recommendations on where. i live in the financial district and am pretty sure none of the stores down here carry them. any ideas? all recommendations are greatly appreciated!

    1. I'm not positive they have them, but youre best bet is probably Sunrise Mart, a Japanese supermarket. Its located at 4 Stuyvesant Street (2nd Floor), between 2nd and 3rd Ave. Right next to the St. Marks Bookstore, 1 block north of St. Marks.

          Sunrise Mart and Jas Mart (on St. Mark's) always have fresh shiso leaves.

          • Shiso is sold at the japanese market on the north side of Broome St, 100 feet east of West Broadway
