Crawfish and other chow in New Orleans

Hey all,

A friend of mine is heading to New Orleans and asked me to research of course I came here first! He'll have one meal out and he wants some place truly local, not stuffy or expensive, where he can eat a whole pile of crawfish and other other local favorites. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Send him to Sal's Seafood on the Westbank on Barataria. Head over bridge to Westbank, drive far and stay on Expressway over big raised stretch of road till you get to the street Barataria. It's an exit but it's the second light from exit. Take left. It's right on the right with neon sign that says "SAL'S SEAFOOD." Inexpensive, awesome crawfish and crabs and shrimp and oysters. Potatoes, corn, etc. They have a great crab dip to spread on the potatoes and also crawfish deviled eggs. Their boiled crawfish are great. Ice cold beer available and newspapers cover the table. Go here for sure if he wants crawfish!!!!!!

Second Big Als - crawfish and oysters were both very good when I ate there last week

      2. Frankie and Johnnies...he'll have a lot of options to choose from.

        1. if the "experience" is what he is after i would say 100% sal's. newspaper on table, they dump huge mounds of boiled seafood on table then clean it afterwards with a dust pan! this place is a saefood shack, true local joint!
