Terra Cotta Clay Garlic Roaster use & care?
I just picked up one of these as an addition to a Mother's Day gift. It didn't come with a box or instructions, butit is glazed on the interior. Does anyone have use & care suggestions?
From what I remember, you cut the top off a head of garlic, drizzle with oil, and place in the roaster. Then you bake at 400F for 45 minutes or until the garlic is soft. You can clean with soap and water to wash the oil off.
Having said that, I find that garlic roasts much faster when it's just wrapped in foil. I used to have a terra cotta roaster but it took so long that I stopped using it. And then it went to Goodwill.
When I don't even have time to roast garlic, I simmer peeled cloves in olive oil in a small pan until soft.
Terra cotta is good for doing your garlic in the microwave if you need to do it quickly or dont want to waste power for the oven just for garlic.. all it takes is 1 to 3 minutes in the microwave and the check and do a minute at a time until done,
