Landmark?

Myself and 5 other girls in late twenties/early thirties are dining in Chicago on a Saturday night. I've made reservations at Landmark- is this a good choice? We're coming next weekend and many other choices (like Japonias) are booked.

Ha, I actually used to work there. Yeah it's a good place for you and your girls to go have a fun night. It's semi-swanky with pretty good energy. You should have a good time.

I was there last weekend for the first time. My impression was: 5-8 pre-theater crowd, 9-closing hang out bar for Depaul students. Kind of an old crowd morphing into a young crowd as the night goes on. Food was good, but our meal (2 entrees, 2 apps, dessert, $50 bottle of wine) came to $175 and for that we could have done much better elsewhere. If you do end up there, though, order the giant chocolate chip cookie dessert.

If you like sushi, Mirai is very good, if not quite the scene of Japonais. Mercat a la Planxa is my recent favorite restaurant - Catalonian tapas, but nothing like any other Spanish Tapas I have had. I'd say its the most significant new opening in Chicago over the past few months. Another fun place with good food and fun people watching is Carnivale (Pan-Latin food) - its also enormous so I'd think you can still get reservations. Or you could try Frontera Grill. Let us know if there is something else you'd like and if you want other recommendations.

Hmm, maybe Landmark isn't for us then. Friday night we're doing the casual pub scene as well- any advice on great Happy Hours?
