Lupa's booked...now what?

I am bummed! Two months ago I tried to book Lupa for our "casual pre-theater dinner night" for group of six. Open Table said "can't book til 30 days ahead." Now I went back and it's booked up the entire time we're there (in three weeks). The husband and I LOVE this place and looked forward to our friends visiting with us.

What else would be comparable that I might still be able to get in for a 5:30? (We already have our fancy dining places booked.....)

  1. You may want to try calling them directly. I've gotten reservations by calling when opentable said they were booked.

Agreed - I've had the same experience, albeit for lunch.

    2. I've rarely seen open slots on OT for Lupa before 11pm. I'd definitely call.

      1. Lupa never lists prime times on Opentable, because they book up by phone as soon as the day opens up. Do try calling, though, as 5:30 is early enough that you may get in, or try doing a walk-in. They hold half the tables for walk-ins, so ask them what the typical wait would be at that tme. I suspect it may not be bad. If Lupa just doesn't look feasible, Crispo would be a fine substitute and is easy to reserve.

Or Otto. I know it's not as well liked on these boards, but I've had many excellent meals there.

Otto has quite a number of fans, but my one meal there was so bland I would never go back, unlike Lupa and Crispo, where the food is always well-seasoned and full of flavor.

I agree with you--always had good experiences at Otto.

          2. Thanks for the help, guys. We'll call now and see if we can get a reservation. If not, I'll check out Crispo for sure.
