Looking for rhubarb

Has anyone seen rhubarb for sale yet? I know it's easy to grow, but not with my shady lot and jet-black thumb, so I grudgingly pay exorbitant prices close to $4/lb whenever I see it. I know that in some parts of the country it's sold frozen in bags, but have never seen that here. I should move to Lake Wobegon!

The rhubarb in my garden isn't ready for picking yet, so local might be a small issue. I will post when I harvest it and see if anyone wants it. Can't get anyone in my family [but me] to eat it.

I saw (and bought) some rhubarb at the Market Basket in Salem NH yesterday; so the other branches may have it as well. It was $1.89/#

I saw it at a couple of Stop and Shops in the Boston area a few weeks ago, but I don't remember if I've seen them recently

At the Brigham Circle S&S, not sure of the price. If you search rhubarb custard cake, you'll find the easiest but tastiest recipe. Layer yellow cake mix, butter, cream, sugar and rhubarb and that's about it.

Local rhubarb is just coming up now, so you probably won't see the local stuff in stores for a few more weeks - but it may be available from Connecticut and points south. Try Wilson's in Lexington or Russo's in Watertown.

Yesterday at Wilson Farms they had gorgeous rhubarb but it wasn't local. Also note that they are closed on Tuesdays.

It's 1.98$/lb at Russo's. Cooked up a huge pot of compote this weekend - really tasty.
