Globe Bistro Wine Dinner

      Me too. Would be there tonight if it wasn't for a bad cold and allergies!

      Was at Hidden Bench on Saturday for their Spring release. Every wine was at least very good, many were excellent. The 2007 Rosé (primarily Pinot-based, which bodes really, really well for their 2007 Pinot Noir) was amazing, but unfortunately is completely sold out. The 2006 Fumé Blanc, which will be released at Vintages this weekend, is very, very good.

      This winery continues to deliver some of the best, most terroir-driven wines in Ontario.

        Cybergod's right...

        HBs wines are consistantly very good to excellent (which you can't say about any other winery in Niagara not named Le Clos Jordanne) and while they are expensive, they are serious, world-class wines. I still think the 2005 Nuit Blanche is the best sauvignon-semillon blend i've ever tasted outside of Bordeaux. Their chardonnays and rieslings would rival any others in Canada.

    2. My wife and I were there for the wine dinner last night, and we had a really good time. The wines are probably the best I've tasted from Niagara. We got a chance to meet the owner and winemaker, and talked to them one-on-one both before, during and after dinner. The food courses that were paired with the wines matched perfectly. I will scan the menu later today and post it here. I was wondering if any of you would be there, it would have been nice to meet any that were. I'll be at the Austrian wine event on May 13, there may still be tickets left for that one.

        I've uploaded the menu from yesterday's dinner, looks like CH has shrunk the original 425kb file to 18k, so you may need your magnifying glass to read it.

            $125 each, including all taxes and gratuity.

            I think all the details are on the GLOBE website. You should sign up for the newsletter, then all the info will be mailed to you.

            The canapes that were served on the rooftop patio included oysters, lobster, and chevale tartare.

            I hope the next dinner will be a good as this one.

                Well I was half looking for you, scoping everyone out and wondering which were you and Mr Millygirl. I realised pretty quickly there was nobody from CH there except me.

                  Hey foodyDudey,

                  I was there and really enjoyed everything. If only I could afford to join the wine club! Very impressed with the wines. Jean-Martin and Harald are both so passionate and it shows in their product. See you at the Austrian tasting. I'll have to scout out who you are....

                    I just called to try and get in the Austrian tasting and unfortunately I'm too late....they're booked up! Lucky you Cam, enjoy!

                        its funny you say that, I was going the say I thought I was the last to get tickets . So, is this a tasting or a class?
