the original pancake house? there are locations in oak park, glenview, etc. they serve up very kid-friendly dishes, like buttermilk pancakes with little bits of bacon in them, or their tropical pancakes, with crushed pineapple inside and "topical syrup" with butter.
and all the locations i've seen have those very basic white tables and the restaurants themselves made to withstand anything kids can dish out.
have fun!›1 Reply-

Walker Brothers *are* locations of the Original Pancake House, with six locations in the north and northwest suburbs (Wilmette, Glenview, Arlington Heights, Lincolnshire, Lake Zurich, and Highland Park). They are the only OPH locations which have been permitted to put their own name on the restaurants in addition to the franchise name. www.walkerbrosoph.com

I love Walker Brothers too.
Most (maybe all) brunches are kid friendly, in my experience, even the super-fancy super-expensive ones in the luxury hotels downtown.
Two of the most popular Sunday brunches in the north and northwest suburbs, respectively, are Allgauer's ( www.northbrookallgauers.com ), at the west end of Northbrook, and Barn of Barrington ( www.barnofbarrington.com ). Both are luxurious buffet-style brunches with a huge variety of foods, including breakfast specialties as well as more hearty savory dishes (e.g. prime rib, filet mignon).
