Tango Palace - best cookie ever!

millygirl May 6, 2008 07:05 AM

Stopped in to Tango Palace the other day to get some coffee to go and on a whim picked up a chocolate chip cookie. WELL!!! I gotta say it was the best damn cookie I've had in a long while. Just the right size, perfect chew factor, with a slight crispiness to it, but the best part is the stuff inside. Not only is it filled with good quality chocolate chips, they've added pumpkin and flax seeds to it. Hell, this might even be good for you. Can't wait to go back!!

Queen Street East, at Jones. Great neighbourhood independent coffee shop. The folks that work there are very friendly and seem to love what they do. But that cookie, OMG. I had a half leftover which I just finished and wished I had more.....
Not overly sweet either, just right!!

They call it their Breakfast cookie!!!!! If you've never noticed, they have an incredible selection of squares, most of them chocolate!. It's far too close to me for my health.

Yes I did notice the great selection of other items. I'm a cookie girl myself so this is a real find for me. I love the crunch from all the different seeds. Luckily for me, I live not to far away. Must go back and try some of the sandwiches next time.

I love that place! I bring study partners and other assorted coffee-time companions there as much as possible. It's a great atmosphere for just sitting back and chatting over enormous cups of tea/coffee and an interesting selection of sweets and treats. Their sandwich menu looks great too, I keep meaning to try some of their smoked salmon.

the smoked salmon on a bagel is awesome. as is the cheese bagel (they put shredded cheese and green onion on it.

I've never tried the pastries or cookies...afraid if I start I won't be able to stop but I might have to try the breakfast cookie now. oh yum.

Update: I tried the cookie. It's very...erm...healthy tasting. Certainly not BAD but not really worth the $2.25 they are charging. I could make these pretty easilly at home. It's got pumpkin, flax, sunflower seeds in it plus I detected a smattering of walnuts. Raisins and milk chocolate chips (high quality chocolate) round out this cookie. It's good but a little overpriced, and certainly not the best cookie I've had.

Lucky you mintycake, I doubt that I could bake a similar cookie. However I am fairly confident in my ability to put together a smoked salmon bagel for probably way less than they are charging. But that's not really the point, is it?

Lol, I think I know of the cookie you're talking about. My wife and I call it the birdseed cookie. It's O.K. Can't top the chocolate chip at Le Gourmand.

The Skor cookie will also make your eyes cross and your toes curl... I've yet to try any cookie there that wasn't deee-lish.
